A gig I'm completing for a printing company. These will be a poster display in the store. I was told I didn't have to use their pre-existing mascot, but I chose to because I think he works well with it. It illustrates the slogan: "Smarter. Faster. Better." I like ad work.

This has been 'retweeted" 37 times in the last two hours.  It's great having someone who counts do the talking for you.

THOUGHT

All of a sudden, I am realizing how much of a sore thumb I must have been as a child (60s-70s), with my interests and dislikes. Kids today are fortunate. With superhero movies etc., it will never be as weird to be obsessed with cartoons as it was then. (Keeping in mind that the industry has since gone South (Korean), it's "lucky" I was born when I was.

STUDIO BOUND WEEKEND

Still some spots to be cleaned up, but I expect to be fully done by tomorrow. (Break time! Been looking too long.) A painting for the friend of a valiant lady, a karate teacher, who was injured in a traffic accident. That lady's favorite are purple elephants.

This "we're going to remake this-and-that" feels like kids putting on their "own show".

I wonder how the classic illustration painters turned fine quality work out like machines and think maybe the pride in meeting a professional's deadlines was an incentive. As well as the steady pay that came with it. Of course, all that is over with.

Now that kids are allowed to watch Netflix in class and take girls into their bedrooms, I wonder why most of us went through such parent-and-teacher hell in the 70s. I'm disgusted.

A WORD

The word "N----R", with its ugly, long and complex history, triggers emotional feelings in everyone; especially we African Americans. Centuries of hate and hurt present and retroactively. It is a traumatic word. But it is very much relished by the scum, the snail's shit who use it as a weapon to strike chords. It's a natural. The retort of "HONKY" doesn't hold its virulent cache. Recognize immediately the human horseshit the expression is coming from. It hurts like hell, angers us, but the word "N----R" itself holds no power over our status or worth as human beings.It is purely a reflection of *theirs*.
We will still have triggered feelings, but to recognize the whys and wherefores could be valuable.
