My favorite is "Luchadora", love the characters in the background, the cheering tortoise, etc. I like the abstract and the Anna May Wong painting as well. Is that her foreshortened shoulder to the right of the painting? Are these acrylic?
Hi, Mark! Yes, that's AMW's shoulder. And these are all acrylic; AMW is painted on wood.
Oh, and the 'tortoise' is supposed to be Mexican character "Condorito". The guy behind him represents comedian Cantinflas.
I watch the old Cantinflas movies on Univision every Sat. He really chatters away in Spanish, subtitles help, but I'm missing a lot of the verbal comedy and subtext of the time the pictures were made. I really like the sight of his face, such a famous comedy pan! I'm learning a little Spanish from Cantinflas and El Chavo, both Mexican funny men.
