ANIMATOR'S BEEF

When receiving emailed want ads from the Animators' Guild, I just kind of laugh. They're pointless cattle calls before friends are hired. No rejection letters are sent out any more, leaving one dangling. And would you believe that, besides knowing the latest software, they require one to have a degree or a doctorate to make the shit they do? Just another method of eliminating the elderly.

Not so very long ago, a studio was interested in hiring experienced people, if new tools came along, the studio taught the artists how to use them. Now all those costs have been shifted on to the artists. You're about as right as you can be with this post, Milton. Learning new software and requiring a doctorate in animation are the insurmountable walls to employment directed against the veteran cartoonist.
