MORE FROM BEHIND THE IRON CURTOON
I've been hepped onto a bunch of 1937-38 Russian cartoons that, for a change, draw their inspiration not from Disney, but from the more slapstick studios. This is, to me, the most interesting one, titled THE MAGIC FLUTE (or something like that).
The character staging in these is often weak, but there are expressive poses and, periodically, adventurous moving background shots and camera moves. Give a listen to THE MAGIC FLUTE, thanks to our good friend Jerry Beck!
