THOUGHTS ON ANIMATION TODAY #247

It's not so much that CG stinks as what is being done with it.

***

Computers have made drawn animation easier than it's ever been. Hollywood, however, is in a concentrated effort to eliminate all the creative labor it can. Thus, "animation" made by pushing buttons, in mostly foreign countries.

***

I've heard that Hollywood studios have even dabbled in sending the job of cartoon WRITING to India, and that it hasn't worked out. Yet.

***

The animation studios are bent on hiring inexperienced kids because they theoretically cost less. But in many cases their storyboards must be followed up by older artists to correct them. Stupid.
